Focus on Mobile Solutions

The SPS IPC Drives reconfirmed its position as Europe’s leading trade fair for electric automation technology. From 25-27 November 2014 over 56,000 expert visitors availed themselves of the opportunity to learn about innovation and current trends in the industry from the 1,602 exhibitors. In addition, the three trade fair days were characterized by a remarkably positive atmosphere at the stands. In that respect, the trade fair provides significant impetus at the end of the year for the economic development of the automation industry in the coming year.
The safety technology provider BARTEC, which has been an exhibitor at SPS IPC Drives for many years, also appeared to be very happy with the attendance at the trade fair. “SPS IPC Drives has continuously developed itself into the most important gathering of the European automation technology industry”, says Dr. Ralf Köster, CEO of the BARTEC Group. “It is the best possible platform for BARTEC to successfully demonstrate its capability for innovation and performance. This is confirmed by the high number of top quality expert talks we were able to give once again this year at the BARTEC stand.”
With the motto, “BARTEC goes mobile”, one of the focus areas of the presentation by the global market leader in explosion protection was mobile solutions for use in hazardous areas. In addition, the first night celebrated an explosion-proof industrial tablet PC that aroused a lot of interest. It is becoming increasingly important for mobile workers in harsh environments to have immediate access to internal company data and systems while in the field. Therefore, typical users of the tablet PC include technicians and engineers who can use complex information such as technical drawings, tables and other Office documents outdoors, via the HD display screen. Furthermore, BARTEC’s presentation of the world’s first explosion protected high-end Android smartphone was a major success. The device, which can be safely operated with one hand, is ready to use immediately after unpacking, in exactly the same way as private users expect from consumer devices. As a complete turnkey solution, the contents of the delivery also include cloud-enabled management software and the SIPIDO app, developed by the company itself. It enables users to hold video conferences and video streams outdoors. Thanks to live transmission, problems can be resolved remotely, wherever the specialist may be at the time. This opens up new avenues of communication for remote diagnosis, maintenance, servicing and documentation.
